Visitor Visa; Subclass 600
This class of visitor visa has 4 streams:
1. Tourist Stream
2. Sponsored Family Stream
3. Business visitor Stream
4. Approved Destination Status Stream.
You can apply for while you are in or outside Australia. If you are in Australia, you must hold a valid visa which enable you to apply for this class of visa.
Tourist Visa Stream:
This stream of visitor visa is for you if you intends to visit Australia or remain in Australia to:
1. Visit your family or friends or holiday in Australia or
2. for any other purpose that is not related to business or medical treatment.
You can be in Australia or outside Australia, If you are in Australia, you must hold a valid visa which allow you to apply for this class of visa.
If you are the parents of an Australian citizen or permanent resident or eligible New Zealand Citizen, you may be able to apply for a 18 months, 3 years or 5 years multiple travel visitor visa to visit your child in Australia.
While you may be granted a visa with longer duration than 12 months, you can only stay in Australia for a maximum of 12 months in 18 months period.

At the end of your 12 months stay, you must leave Australia. You can only apply for further extension of your stay in Australia under extremely limited circumstances
Sponsored Family Stream:
This stream of visitor visa is for you or together with your family unit intends to
- visit your relative or relative of your family unit in Australia.
- the application is sponsored by your relative or relative of your family unit.
- the sponsored relative is a adult settled Australian citizen or a settled Australian permanent resident or
- your application is sponsored by members of parliament or holds the office of mayor.
- this stream of visitor visa may requires lodgment of security deposit before visa can be granted.
- security deposit will be refunded to the financial guarantor after the visa holder complied with the visa conditions and left Australia within the visa validity date.
- you must be outside of Australia when application is lodged and decided
Business visitor Stream
This stream of visitor visa is for applicant who intends to visit Australia to engage in a business visitor activity. Activities may includes:
- making general business or employment enquiry.
- investigating, negotiating, entering into or reviewing a business contract.
- Official government to government visit.
- participation in a conference, trade fair or seminar in Australia (not paid for by organisers to participate)
- Applicant must be outside of Australia when application is lodged and decided
